Hello there! Welcome to Kathleen Roberts Photography!
I’m Kathleen, or Kathy for short. Except I’m tall. Which makes it really easy to reach the top shelf in the grocery store, but that’s about it.
I love coffee - with cream and no sugar, please.
I love mini tootsie rolls and stash them around the house just for me.
I love the smell of the earth after a good rain.
I love Laura Ingalls and always wanted to be a prairie girl.
I love being a G.R.I.T.S. (Girl Raised in the South)
But mostly … I love photography.
Landscapes are my photographic passion. I love to experience the Earth’s beauty. There is no better way for me to start the day than to wake up before the sun and drive to a little spot that allows me to watch the day wake up. Sometimes it’s best just to watch, but often I’m grateful to have my camera in hand to capture that awesome awakening.
As much as I love landscapes though, I can get equally excited about a variety of genre’s including street photography and macro. The city of Asheville and its people are prime inspirations for my street work. Macro photography is my therapy. Getting up close and seeing the intricate details of an object is quite exciting!
I have lived in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains just outside of Asheville all my life. I currently live 10 miles north of Asheville in Weaverville, NC with my husband of 30 years, Gary, and my daughter Jenny. My son Kevin lives nearby. Our nearly 15-year-old beagle, Daisy is my primary companion during the day and serves as my subject when I need photographic practice ~ as long as there is a treat involved.
My work was exhibited at the Phil Mechanic Studio in the River Arts District of Asheville for the month of March in 2014. In June of that same year, my image titled “Seat’s Taken” was chosen from over 8,000 entries as a finalist in the Clickin Moms 2014 VOICE competition in the Street Photography category.
