Soooo, I guess you might have noticed that it’s been a while since I’ve posted to this blog. Like a year. Why does time seem to slip away like that?
Anyway, the year was good to me and I’m ready to dive into this year with renewed joy and promise. I enjoy writing so I’m going to try to do a better job at blogging this year. The sunshine is out today after what has seemed liked weeks, so it always lifts my spirits with warmth and sun on my face.
I may not have blogged much last year, but I did do some shooting, so to catch up I’m posting one of my favorite images from each month of last year.
I hope this new year brings you much peace and many blessings!
January – a female eastern towhee visited me during last years January snow. They keep low to the ground and are hard to catch.
February – I made a trip to Amelia Island, FL for the Click Away conference. Sunrise was my favorite.
March – a dark-eyed Junco visited my porch on another snow day we got in March. Such a beautiful bird!
April – a local photography group I’m in met in downtown Asheville for some street photography during a beautiful spring day. I adored the yellow hues from the trees surrounding the home of the famous author Thomas Wolfe.
May – I couldn’t get my camera fast enough when I saw a male and female downy woodpecker in our tree outside in the rain. I was thrilled to catch the pair together!
June – this month is usually my annual trip to Roan Mountain for the blooming rhododendrons, but I also love the woods you have to pass through on the way to reach the balds.
July – mountain greenery is in full bloom by now. A trip to White Oak Falls showed me just how beautiful a small waterfall can really be.
August – I made a trip to my parent’s lake house for a visit. The bushes in their yard were chock full of these blue swallowtails. Absolutely gorgeous!
September – My friend Laura Beth Davidson from Laura Beth Davidson Photography and I lead the annual Clickin Walk from Clickin Mom’s in downtown Asheville. We kind of led each other since we were the only ones on the walk. Ha! But after we parted ways and I was walking back to my car, this incredible scene came into view over the Jackson building.
October – my friend and photography buddy Kathy Linford of E-Squared Designs came to visit me for a few days this month. We roamed the mountains, shot some waterfalls and had a wonderful time! This was a cascade above Sunburst Falls.
November – I finally got a shot of a white squirrel! I was traveling through Brevard, NC and stopped to chase these amazing creatures. They are such a sight to see in person and I was lucky to finally get my shot of one.
December – A couple weeks before Christmas we got a pretty good snow. This tree at Beaver Lake caught my eye. I wonder if a small critter lives in that unique formation on the trunk.
Looking at that last picture I think I’m ready for a little more snow… but after I finish enjoying the sunshine today. 🙂
