Outer Banks Girls Weekend – Day 2

From my previous post, I left off where we were going to see what Mother Nature decided to do about sunset.  Well, she decided that it would be very cloudy and grey, so sunset pictures were not to be had.

{Saturday}  We woke up just before sunrise to look out the windows.  It was iffy, but decided to head out anyway.  We traveled to Avon Pier and while it wasn’t raining, it wasn’t exactly sunny either, so I took time to practice some long exposures.  I just love the look of smooth and silky water!

We decided to head to the bakery to get some breakfast before heading home.  I was excited to return to the Orange Blossom Bakery and Cafe that Gary and I had visited last year.  No trip to Hatteras Island should be without buying and consuming their famous “Apple Ugly”.   (That’s island speak for Apple Fritter) Delicious!

Later in the afternoon Jenny and Nadeen went to the store for supplies.  Carri and I decided to walk to the beach since it wasn’t raining and the sun was peeking through the clouds a little bit.

That all changed rather quickly as a storm decided to blow in.  This surfer seems defeated.

Heading out for the sunset a couple hours later looked a bit more promising.  The rain had passed through quickly and the clouds seemed to be breaking up some.  The sunset was really pretty!

We finished off the night by capturing a Charlie’s Angels(ish) pose with cameras. 🙂

With day 2 completed, we only had one more full day together. 🙁
