Outer Banks – Part 3 – Manteo

Following the rainy, indoor day (see part 1 and part 2) we made our way north from Avon, NC to Manteo, NC to visit the Elizabethan Gardens and the town of Manteo.  If I were ever to move to the Outer Banks, I think I would likely make my way to reside in Manteo.  It reminds me so much of the little town I live in now except for the fact it’s by the water and not the mountains.  It’s such a beautiful and quaint little town and the ride over the bridge to the town is my favorite!  Such a beautiful drive over the water with the seaside town in the distance!  The sunsets here are incredible too as I found out on a prior trip.  The colors are almost un-be-liev-able.

Anyway, we made our way to the gardens, and unfortunately it was a little early in the year for too much to be in bloom, but you could certainly see the gardens were just on the tip of spring.  Eventually Jenny and Carolyn found their way to the greenhouse area and filled a cart with wonderful new plants for their home gardens.  If I had lived closer I might have picked some plants out myself to take home.

Of course, there was some picture taking first.

My favorite color, crimson red…

At the end of the garden visit their cart was full (as was their hands!)  🙂

After a delicious outdoor lunch, we strolled around the waterfront.  It was such a relaxing and beautiful day!

The day didn’t end there though.  As we made our way back home we made one more stop.  I think it might have been my favorite stop of the trip…

Stay tuned for part 4!
