I’m continuing my quest for seeing waterfalls around here that I haven’t been to before. Last Friday night my husband made the mistake of asking what I was going to do on Saturday. I told him I was going to see if he would ride with me to Eastatoe Falls so I could take some pictures. Seeing that the skies were going to be a bit cloudy, it might be a good day to take photos.
A wrinkled nose and a couple eye rolls later he agreed to ride with me.
Eastatoe Falls is on private property in Rosman, NC. The property owners welcome visitors as long as you respect their privacy and show no disrespect to the property. I had read that the falls are basically in their backyard. Are they ever. The base of the waterfalls are only about 200 yards from the house. THIS my friend, is what I call a perfect backyard.
Fun fact: “Eastatoe” was the local Cherokee word for the Carolina Parakeet, and was the name of a local tribe of Cherokee indian.
There was this bridge to a platform downstream from the falls. I wanted to see if the platform offered a unique view of the falls, but what you see in this picture is as far as I got on the bridge. Another day… maybe.
