Viewpoints – My {New Bern} View

My husband had a business conference in New Bern, NC recently and I decided to tag along.  After all, it was another chance for me to head towards the coast and be by the water.  New Bern is located on the Neuse River and someday I really need to research how the river came to be named since that’s my family name.  Maybe we are royalty or something…

Of course I brought my camera hoping for some great weather and awesome skies, but mother nature decided it would be either gray and hazy or sunny with no clouds.  I made the most of it anyway.  🙂

I enjoyed strolling along the river front in the park.  What a beautiful place to walk and relax.

One morning I headed out before sunrise, hoping the rain clouds would part. It didn’t happen, so I practiced some long exposures shooting the draw bridge.

In this image, the drawbridge raised and a ship passed through. I had my settings a little too long though, and the ship passed out of my viewfinder before the exposure was done. I wanted to see a ghostly ship in my image, but since I only had one shot at it, I failed.  Bummer.

This one I converted to black and white.

On the afternoon of the last day there the clouds finally started parting.

And there was special event at the river front park. The Budweiser Clydesdales!

But that’s a post all to itself. Stay tuned!
