Viewpoints – My {Southport City Pier} View

Living in the great state of North Carolina, you have the beach in the east and the mountains in the west.  The best of both worlds.  I wouldn’t trade living in the mountains for anything but when we went to the beach in June, I was excited to be able to shoot something a little different.  I was more than willing to get up before sunrise – even on vacation – to head over to Southport, NC to capture the sun rising over the ocean near the City Pier.  I was at the mercy of Mother Nature though and she decided that we would have clear skies that week, instead of some clouds that would give the images some interesting dimension.  I had also not remembered that I can’t move the sun over to the perfect position in the sky, so unless I wanted to stand in the middle of the ocean, the sun wasn’t going to appear in a prime position in my shots of the pier.

No worries though.  Having that hour or so to myself in the early morning was relaxation enough for me.  It’s still my favorite time of day.

Now head on over to the viewpoint from my good friend Jennifer Carr. I know she’s got some good stuff!
